College of Medicine (COM) chapter under Maestros Leadership team both founded and launched the Maestros Academic Amour program(MAAP) with the aim of ensuring quality primary school education and promoting education for sustainable development in Malawi.
*As part of the launch of the MAAP project, COM Maestros went to Chimwankhunda full primary school in Blantyre where they gave out school uniforms and shoes to one hundred needy boys and girls who are between standard one and five. Further the COM Maestros also offered motivation talk to the young students, all aimed at encouraging primary school students to stay in school and work hard to achieve their goals and impact positively on their society.*
Four others primary schools were randomly selected after the Chimwankhunda launch in the districts of Lilongwe, Blantyre and Zomba through the supervision of Poly, Luanar and Domasi College of Education(DCE) Maestros where more uniforms and other assorted items were to be distributed. So far DCE has picked up the ball and has already distributed school uniforms to the primary school selected in Zomba. Plans are already underway that before the lapse of this month of January, all the uniforms in the first phase of the MAAP project have been distributed by the other colleges. Maestros aim at distributing one thousand school uniforms per year.
*The MAAP project is currently confined to both mission and government primary schools only but Maestros leadership team envisions to reach and render support to more needy students in the nearest future. The team’s long term goal is to facilitate change in the academic curriculum in order to produce hybrid students who will bring significant changes in their field of specialty.*
It is of paramount importance to note that the MAAP project objectives through the Maestro leadership team are in line with the Millennium Development goals and the Maestros Leadership team which is itself a leading and successful leadership training team is doing a commendable job to sustain the project’s life with financial support. - COM Maestros Media Team
